Private Eye VR

Private Eye VR began as an entry into Facebook's Oculus VR jam, where it finished as a finalist in the competition. The game received much attention from early adopters of VR and laid the groundwork for a more ambitious title to evolve.

The original game's spying mechanic, where players piece together a crime by gathering intelligence on their neighbours using a pair of binoculars, earned the game lots of praise, as did a unique locomotion system that places players in a wheelchair.

The brilliant voyeuristic gameplay is still at the heart of Private Eye today, and its unique approach to gameplay in VR attracted the support of funding from Welcome (formerly The Welcome Trust) and the UK Games Fund.

Creative director Jake Slack has a strong vision for the aesthetics of Private Eye, taking inspiration from Scorsese and Fincher and psychological thrillers like Shutter Island.

For me, this is a dream collaboration! It's not every day that I can indulge my love of Film Noir. Immersing myself in the compositional worlds of much-admired mid-century composers like Bernard Herman and Jerry Goldsmith, I feel lucky to be composing the music for this one-of-a-kind game.
